- Created roadmap, readme, etc.
- AI-assisted workflow is used to create this application. Notice of AI workflow is attached to README for transparency. Project is completely open-source and will remain this way.
- Initial local testing does exactly what the scope of December 10th’s change log entry outlines.
December 10, 2025#
- Setup Filebrowser Docker container to be used as a basic interface for folders stored on the GameVault drives. However, due to bloat and unnecessary feature sets, it was determined that an even more simplistic interface is needed. Ideal interface for downloading games from the GameVault is to share via reverse proxy, where users will then navigate to and download the game directly from the server without need for any login screens or authentication (although can be put behind forward auth with Authentik if needed to act as basic user management).
- Began working on “GameShelf” project, which is a basic Docker container that does the above items.
December 9, 2025#
- Installed (2) 2TB SAS Seagate drives in slots 20/21.
- Configured in RAID 0 (chosen to maximize storage capacity due to low priority data, configuration files to be stored and backed up with normal backup routine in an LXC)
- Edited fstab and labeled “Games”
- Inital directory located at /mnt/Games but will need adjusted later.
December 8, 2025#

December 4, 2025#
- DNS (Pi-hole) Docker image updates
- Persistent issues with FTL crashes and unresolved requests
- Major adjustments to docker-compose.yml
- Removed custom network assignment block and port allocations
- Switched to host network mode
- Removed FTL DNS listening mode
- Removed FTLCONF password writes
- Added a WEBPASSWORD env variable
- Removed/disabled PiHole (CT 100) systemctl-resolved
- Removed/disabled old Unbound instance no longer in use
- Created new entry for /etc/resolv.conf (use localhost for DNS)
nameserver 127.0.0.1- Updated UDM SE secondary DNS as it was poisoning some requests when Pi-hole was slower to respond (known behavior in UniFi, secondary DNS does not act as a fallback and respect primary lookups - acts as more of a load balancer in situations where lookup is slower than usual).
- Added Google/Cloudflare DNS to upstream in Pi-hole.
December 2, 2025#
- Access was requested to home media server
- Revisited Wizarr invitation manager. Several updates from the application developer since last using, including new unauthenticated routes suggested to add in SSO.
- Moved Wizarr out of the Integrations Portainer stack into its own Wizarr stack.
- Removed
user: 1000mapping from docker-compose.yml due to a permission bug.- General compose cleanup
- Updated welcome steps.
- Added the following unauthenticated routes to Authentik:
- '^/join($|/.*)'
- '^/j($|/.*)'
- '^/static($|/.*)'
- '^/setup($|/.*)'
- '^/wizard($|/.*)'
- '^/image-proxy($|/.*)'
- '^/cinema-posters($|/.*)'- Bypassing CrowdSec for unauthenticated routes due to exclusions not behaving properly.
- Restored Docker (CT 103) backup after Authentik Outpost failures, updated known working configurations and restored.
- Updated Authentik’s environment variables causing issues with SMTP.
- Created a new Outpost and swapped with broken after updating, added external services and whitelist to CrowdSec chain for Authentik.
- Added a bypass for Plex CrowdSec.
December 1, 2025#
- Cleared excessive dust build-up from Herbert server’s drives/caddies and top/bottom server closet fan filters.
- Removed (2) 600gb SAS HDDs from learning server and transferred into slots 10/11.
- Converted to non-RAID and passed through to Proxmox.
- Mirrored ZFS pool, added to Datacenter storage.
- Static IP at 192.168.1.10/play.lab.shannonwetnight.com
- Pool intended to be used for the AMP game server.
- Converted to non-RAID and passed through to Proxmox.
- AMP server deployed with Debian
- OIDC with Authenik
- Known bug with AMP version for OIDC logins and permission settings
Workaround by adding AMP_Group_Name to a custom group mapping in Authentik and assigning to affected user(s).
Added a property mapping.
Name: “OIDC - Groups Mapping”
Expression:
- Known bug with AMP version for OIDC logins and permission settings
- OIDC with Authenik
return {
"groups": [g.name for g in user.groups.all()]
}- Suspended default user after workaround.
- Pushbullet/Email alerts enabled
- Scheduled backups enabled:
- Daily at 8:00 UTC
- Maximum backups allowed is (28) before overwriting.
- Stop-and-Go Shutdown Timeout = 180 seconds
- Dedicated Traefik UDP entryPoint required if intending to access servers from play.lab.shannonwetnight.com
- UDP router and service required
- Must expose server ports in Traefik docker-compose.yml configuration as well so Docker can serve the port
- Changes made to Proxmox Backups:
- Removed Tdarr (CT 106), OctoPrint (CT 109), and FoldingAH (CT 111) from daily backup routine.
- Reduced retention size from (3) to (1) daily and (1) monthly backup.
- Added Tdarr (CT 106), OctoPrint (CT 109), FoldingAH (CT 111), and AMP (CT 112) to first day of each month routine with a retention size of (1).
November 2025#
November 27, 2025#
- Updated change log order, reworked date formatting, added month headers
November 23, 2025#
- Website developement continued.
- Working on timestamps with :git front matter declarations.
- Documentation portal live but many documents are still unwritten.
- Existing documents migrated from wiki server need formatting adjustments.
November 21, 2025#
- Updated LXC 103 (Pi-Hole).
- Increased cache size to 250,000 from 10,000 (default).
- Pi-Hole v6 does not use dnsmasq’s old cache implementation and can ignore 10,000+ cache size warning.
- Updated adblock list (removed default list, removed list that contained a variety of duplicate entries).
- Removed old gravity backups.
- Removed old configuration backups.
- Deleted FTL.db and reinitialized.
- Issue with database corruption as reported by logs.
- Symptoms presented as increased resolving time coupled with resolver restarts.
- Restarts coincide with plex.lab.shannonwetnight.com downtime alerts.
- Increased cache size to 250,000 from 10,000 (default).
November 19, 2025#
- Began working on website.
- Primary domain (shannonwetnight.com) to be used as landing page for “personal” site. Sub-domains (wiki, join, etc.) to be used and linked from main page for all other components of website.
- Deploying with Hugo static site generator and theme(s). Starting theme is Blowfish but may want to move to HDSv1 or latest version of modular HDS components.
- Hugo installed alongside Git/Go on Wiki LXC. If performance degrades (not expected), may consider migration to dedicated LXC.
- Site to be linked to GitHub and auto-updated with Cloudflare setup.
November 18, 2025#
- Re-pasted SW-PC GPU die with thicker compound due to thermal issues (hot spot delta far outside of tolerance after high GPU load with Folding@Home workloads for a few days). Re-tested with MSI Kombuster and GPU-Z with nominal temperature ranges.
- Previous hot spot after Folding@Home load exceeded acceptable range of 10-20C at 35C. New hot spot temperature after application of thicker thermal compound is 16C.
November 17, 2025#
- Purchased SW-PC parts:
- (1) ARCTIC MX-6 (4 g) - Ultimate Performance Thermal Paste for CPU, Consoles, Graphics Cards, laptops, Very high Thermal Conductivity, Long Durability, Non-Conductive
- Ran out of thermal paste initially used in SW-PC re-pad/re-paste project. Forums suggested slightly thicker paste and to spread instead of squish.
- (1) ARCTIC MX-6 (4 g) - Ultimate Performance Thermal Paste for CPU, Consoles, Graphics Cards, laptops, Very high Thermal Conductivity, Long Durability, Non-Conductive
November 14, 2025#
- Provisioned new LXC (CT 111) for Folding@home (massively distributed compute platform mainly used for scientific and university research).
- Ubuntu Server 24.04, 4 CPU cores, 8gb RAM and will run 24/7 as available.
- Docker-based image managed via Portainer/GitHub repository.
- Installed Folding@home on SW-PC to run overnight/while working.
November 13, 2025#
- Installed new AIO CPU water cooler for SW-PC.
- Re-pasted/re=padded MSI Ventus Nvidia RTX 2080Ti 11gb OC for SW-PC. Used Aairhut brand thermal pads in 1.0mm, 2.0mm and 3.0mm sizes. Schematic for GPU is slightly incorrect and online forums relatively unhelpful. No guides existed for this GPU at time of maintenance, pads measured with calipers. Issues with thermal conductivity initially but resolved by swapping measured 1.50mm pads with 3.0mm pads over LR22 chips (10 row & 6 row against the heatsink) and repasting per schematic. +
- Tested performance in MSI Kombuster 4 1440p defaults for ~10 minutes with mostly nominal performance. GPU hot spot temperature reading within normal tolerance (10-20 C), with upper end at 103 C after ~10 minutes with 98% utilization and 98% TDP.
- Hot spot reading suggests slightly uneven pressure/paste issue but relatively negligible performance hit over expected usage.
November 12, 2025#

November 11, 2025#
- Website developement continued.
- Timestamps are not parsing properly with GitHub.
- Attempts made to authenticate Cloudflare Worker/account with GitHub repositories but same issue remains.
- Timestamps will parse properly for lastmod dates, but date function still linked to both creation date and lastmod somehow.
- If declaration for formatting is removed from lastmodFormat or dateFormat defaults, it affects the other variable regardless.
- Front matter defaults seem to be ignored and are being parsed or completely removed altogether without being globally applied.
- Adjusted the theme file in Blowfish to reflect “Publish” and “Last Edited” dates. Edited date will properly pull from GitHub with :git declaration, while publish date is the date front matter variable manually assigned per markdown file.
- Formatting adjustments to existing files made.
- Timestamps are not parsing properly with GitHub.
November 9, 2025#
- Formatted and provisioned an unused Dell Wyse 5070 to be used as a dedicated machine for Proxmox Backup Server. Static IP address assigned, Realm created with Authentik and administrative rights granted to proper users. Not suitable as-is just yet – will need an external mirrored NAS before fully transitioning from the RAID controller on the Dell R730xd.
- Destroyed original Pi-Hole instance. Over time, improper upgrades and back-alley solutions to configuration file mishaps and log overflows not properly pruned were causing resolver issues. Reinstalled with Dockerized version, now easier to manage via Portainer. Original blocklists re-added, all local DNS records have been reinitialized and tested working.
November 7, 2025#
- Installed new Dockerized service (NetbootXYZ) on Docker (CT 103). Setup UDM SE to point to option 67 requests at the 192.168.1.129 address with netbootxyz.efi default file.

- Updated environment file for Traefik - stored CrowdSec’s LAPI key alongside Traefik’s environment file and referenced in the dynamic configuration for the service.
- Deployed CrowdSec in its latest iteration according to CrowdSec documentation but only for the local network. Real IP addresses from Cloudflare Tunnel(s) are not parsing correctly, even after explicitly whitelisting the current IPv4/IPv6 addresses directly from Cloudflare to pass the originating IPs through. This approach seems to apply only when using the CDN method, but with the free tier of Cloudflare’s Zero Trust model, it may no longer be possible use the plugin method to parse originating IPs.
- May revisit this in 2026. Added to tracker.

- Purchased Dell PowerEdge R730xd server parts:
- (4) ST400FM0243 Seagate 400GB 2.5in 12Gb/s Nytro Enterprise SAS SSD IBM 02AM750
- Intended use was to use for Container storage and PVE backups, but these drives were not useable due to vendor lock (see explanation below).
- These IBM SSDs are vendor locked with a non-standard 528 block size that can’t be reformatted (rejecting sg_utils command attempts to resize block). With a hardcoded block, the drives are unable to pass through to the server because the RAID controller dumps them due to the unsupported block size. A workaround would be to use JBOD, but the PERC Mini RAID controller was considered at this time to be the better option. Rather than reconfigure the existing RAID infrastructure, these drives were returned to the seller for a full refund.
- Intended use was to use for Container storage and PVE backups, but these drives were not useable due to vendor lock (see explanation below).

- Designed early model of multi-stack Docker architecture.
- Arr stack
- Media stack
- Authentication stack
- Network/security stack
- “Super-stack” - consolidated most services into a single stack.
- Stacks are hosted on GitHub in a private repository. Changes and adjustments should be made here when needed and pulled where necessary.
- Volume mounts should be used when possible. Explicitly name the volumes when creating docker-compose.yml configuration files and create their respective folders on the systems where appropriate before deploying.
- This approach ensures data integrity through redeployments.
